Reception Go Apple Picking in Clara Vale

11th October 2017

Wow! What a fabulous day we had at Clara Vale for our first trip in Reception. The children were fantastic at staying with their partner and group on the walk down with minimal complaining of 'how far?', and the occasional 'I need my packed lunch now'.

Once we got settled in the village hall, we enjoyed some juice and biscuits to get us ready for our autumn adventures. We started with the autumn spotter sheets and a trip to the bird hide, where we were lucky enough to spot a kingfisher, a heron, squirrels and some pheasants! Obviously a game of football was needed before we headed back for our well deserved packed lunches.

Once we had refuelled, it was onto the orchard to collect, wash and chop the apples ready to go into the apple press. All the children had a go at turning the wheel to produce some delicious fresh apple juice!

Finally, tired and a little soggy, we headed back to the hall to create some seasonal crowns with some of the objects we had collected along the way.
