Yet again, Emmaville entered the Gateshead Dance Festival, held at the magnificent Sage Hall One; yet again, our performance was absolutely incredible. This year's theme was 'Back to the 80s', and boy, did we enter into the spirit of it. With a 17-track mash-up to beat all mash-ups, the children boxed, bopped and boogied, hair-twirled, hip-hopped and high-kicked their way through five minutes of amazing choreography. Many of the children were veterans of the festival, having participated in the legendary Annie routine that won the Gateshead Inspiration Award in 2015, and if possible, they seem to have topped even that performance.
Several weeks of hard work at the after-school Dance Club with Miss Rochester certainly paid off, and it became very evident how much effort had gone into the performance as every single part of the stage was used, with every child taking their turn to shine under the spotlights. The costumes, hair and makeup looked amazing and everyone who came to see the show (including thirteen of the teaching staff) were simply blown away. A huge well done to the children and everyone who helped behind the scenes.
Here are a few staged shots of the children in costume, followed by a video of photos from the dance set to the music.
